We've Moved!
We've all gotten those cards in the mail announcing that a friend has moved to a new place. We update our address books and maybe attend an open house at the new location. Well consider this your notification of my Blog move. Yep, we out grew our place, moving on to bigger and better and more busy things. I've decided to get serious with my blog so more people can get prepared in an accelerated but still simple way.
Please make a note in your address book. The new address is http://www.IGetReady.com. Come on over for some pretend punch and cookies and a whole lot of info for you to use to prepare your family for whatever comes your way.
See You Soon!

It's that time again....GARDEN
YEAH, Spring is upon us...I can feel it in the air, shirt sleeve weather is right around the corner. You know what that means right? Time to get the garden started. I have found a fantastic free gardening guide that is available online.
You can find it HERE.
I'm also subscribed to a great newsletter from a blog that sends you 'what to do now in your garden' according to your planting zone. It's great to find specific reminders about what to do in my garden right in my email box. That blog is called http://www.mysquarefootgarden.net/
And if you are not a gardener, this might just be a great year to start.
."We encourage you to grow all the food that you feasibly can on your own property. Berry bushes, grapevines, fruit trees—plant them if your climate is right for their growth. Grow vegetables and eat them from your own yards. Even those residing in apartments or condominiums can generally grow a little food in pots and planters. Study the best methods of providing your own foods. Make your garden neat and attractive as well as productive. If there are children in your home, involve them in the process with assigned responsibilities...Develop your skills in your home preservation and storage. We reaffirm the previous counsel the Church has always given, to acquire and maintain a year’s supply—a year’s supply of the basic commodities for us." -Spencer W. Kimball: (“Family Preparedness,” Ensign, May 1976, 124).
And then there is this gem for those of us who like to eat and yet still need more motivation “We will see the day when we live on what we produce.” President Marion G Romney
Now go get those fingernails dirty :)

Has it been a year?
Oh Yes it has...Quite a year I might add. Let's see...Little sister lives in heaven now...acquired an 11 and 14 year old for a while...struggled with letting them go somewhere they really wanted to be....and then life in general...I won't go in to details but I'm ready to get back at it. Watch for "Me" to be back very soon.

Do you Have Room?
You we're probably thinking "Room for food storage? Of course not, my house is so small, I have too many kids..." etc, but that's not the room I'm talking about here.
Do you have room for the Savior in your heart, He was denied room in the inn. It was to busy and bustling with crowds of people. I'm sure that they were good people bustling around, just like we have good busy-ness in our lives. But are we making room for the King of Kings to dwell with us?
That is the question. (for me too) It's up to us to answer it for ourselves. Spiritual Preparation, I believe, is as important, if not more important than temporal preps. Take a minute to decide if you have room for your Savior in your life.
May your Christmas season, and lives, and hearts be filled with Christ.

The Spirit of CHRISTmas
Wow, It's been a long time since I posted to my blog. Much of my recent preparedness activities have focused on local things that depend on proximity. Sorry if you've missed me.
For this post I am offering a wonderful way to:
~Serve your Lord by serving your Fellowman Mosiah 2:17
~Lighten your Holiday load
~Share love with your friends and neighbors
I discovered this Wonderful Idea at one of the blogs I follow. Credit goes to http://preparednessnibblesandbits.blogspot.com. I did make a change or two to suit my whim ;) (check out this blog, she has a wealth of info)
We all love Friends and Neighbor gifts but this year I propose an expansion of our friend circle to include some of the less fortunate of our Brothers and Sisters.
Instead of plates of cookies that add inches to my hips, I've decided to do what I can to feed the poor. I'll be distributing the poem below to all my friends and neighbors this year for Christmas.
Dear Friends and Neighbors
At Christmas time we like to give
to friends and neighbors dear,
but maybe we could think of those
less fortunate this year.
Instead of giving neighbor gifts
we'll fill the Food Bank's shelves. ...
Let's warm the hearts of those in need
just like Christ would do himself.
As friends we'll join together
and bring food in cans galore,
non-perishables are very best
because of how they store.
Monday Night, December ____
will be the time we meet,
from 6 - 7:30
it's cocoa, donuts & heat.
__________________'s
is where we're going to be.
Dress up warm, we'll be outside
and bring the family.
But if you cannot make it -
no big deal, you see,
we'll still be glad to take your food
to the Food Bank charity!
Just drop it off on __________'s porch
or _____________'s will do,
up to a week beyond the date -
Merry Christmas to YOU!!!
I hope you all have a Wonderful, Christ-filled Christmas!

Oink, Oink (Flu info)
Please take a minute to visit the following site for updates, http://blog.totallyready.com/ or you can also check the Center for disease control (CDC) website here, http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/investigation.htm or the World Health Organization (WHO) here, http://www.who.int/csr/disease/swineflu/en/index.html
Take some time to evaluate where your gaps are in your preparedness efforts. Follow the Prophet and get your 3 month supply of food as soon as you can. Now would be a great time to sacrifice some of the luxuries that we are accustomed to living with in order to be obedient to counsel. Do NOT go into debt and don’t panic but be prudent following the Spirit and heeding the promptings that you receive. Do the best that you can and you will be blessed.

Pandemic Preparedness Challenge
Well, we survived Christmas and are well on our way to 2009.
I thought that a great way to start the year would be to issue a challenge. So here it is...This is a 10-week program. This week by week challenge will give you the babysteps to help you along the path to peace. You'll have the items you'll need so you can deal with a pandemic flu situation. CLICK HERE for the details. Your family will be much better prepared than you otherwise would have been.
Please let me know if you take this challenge and how it's going for you.
